Why we chose this school
I chose the school because of its reputation and proximity to home, but looking back, I’m not sure it was the best fit. I didn’t have to pay extra tuition fees, but I did consider moving into the catchment area for the convenience. Honestly, I don’t feel it was worth the cost, especially when it came to the level of support and opportunities provided.
What we like and dislike
What I liked most was the convenience of the location and the variety of subjects offered. However, I disliked how the school didn’t always seem to prioritize support for struggling students, and I felt that the focus was too much on academics rather than a well-rounded experience.

Compared with other schools
The school uses technology in classrooms, but it could be more consistent. For example, there are online resources and platforms for students, but communication with parents could be improved—more regular updates and clearer use of digital tools would help.
Balancing academics and wellbeing
I think the school tries to balance academics with well-being, but sometimes the focus on results can overshadow the support for students’ mental and emotional health. It could do more to ensure that students aren’t just academically prepared but also supported in other areas of their development.
Expectations versus reality
I expected strong academics, and the school delivered that, but it lacked personalized support for struggling students. It focused more on grades than overall growth.
Support for students who struggle
The support for struggling students was limited. While there were some resources, it didn’t feel like enough to help students who needed extra attention. My child was one of them in year 7 and had to get her own tutor
Bullying and the social scene
The school has policies to address bullying, and they do try to create a positive environment. My child had a generally good social experience, with some challenges, but the staff was responsive when issues arose. Overall, the school worked to promote inclusivity and a sense of community.
The surrounding area and safety
The immediate area around the school is fairly safe, with some busy roads to be cautious of, especially during peak times. There aren’t major flood risks, but the area could be better lit in certain spots. I haven’t noticed much suspicious activity, but like anywhere, it’s good to stay aware of your surroundings.
The parent community
There is a decent sense of community among parents, though it’s not overly close-knit. Some parents know each other and form friendships, but it’s more independent overall. There are events where parents can connect, but it’s not always easy to form strong bonds.
How the school works with parents
The school engaged with parents reasonably well through events and meetings, but responses to queries or complaints could be quicker and more thorough. It would be helpful if they were more proactive in keeping parents informed and involved.
Experience of the sports program
My child and their friends enjoyed the sports programs, but there weren’t always enough options for different skill levels. It could be improved by offering more variety and making sure everyone, regardless of ability, feels included.
Experience of arts activities
My child and their friends have participated in some performing arts activities. They enjoyed the opportunities but felt there could have been more support and resources to help them develop their skills further. It was a good experience overall, but it could’ve been more focused.
